How to Beat Minecraft Dungeons “The Tower” 2nd Anniversary Event

As a kid, I spent a lot of time playing Shining Forces and Lemmings on Sega’s Game Gear. Today, my kids get to play Minecraft Dungeons, which is like Shining Forces on steroids. And they are terrible at it. So here is my guide on How to Beat Minecraft Dungeons “The Tower” 2nd Anniversary Event.

Walk-Through: Minecraft Dungeons “The Tower” 2nd Anniversary Event

If you like videos, here is an accelerated screen capture of how I beat the 22 floors of Minecraft Dungeons’ The Tower for the 2nd Anniversary on Apocalypse mode.

Even though we upgrade Void Strike for the bow on floor 13, it’s important to wait until after you’ve gilded your Double Axe. Gilding makes enchantments more expensive, so you want the Double Axe to be fully upgraded prior to the first merchant on floor 8.

To summarize the video above, here is a breakdown of each floor in Minecraft Dungeons The Tower:

  1. No upgrades.
    Choose the extra Enchantment point.
  2. Upgrade you Refreshment on your sword to level 1. Kill the harpoon characters first as the vine growing mobs help you reduce your Potion cooldown.
    Choose the Beehive Armor.
  3. Upgrade Frenzied on the Beehive Armor to level 1. Do not upgrade
    Choose the Enchantment point.
  4. Upgrade Refreshment on your sword to level 2. Kill the witches first.
    Choose the Enchantment point.
  5. No upgrades. Aggressively kill at least one Necromancer, and then patiently kill the other. Recover your health Potion in a corner as needed. I usually die once on this level.
    Choose the Double Axe.
  6. Upgrade Leeching on the Double Axe to level 3, and Fire Aspect to level 1. (You could optionally select Stun instead of Fire Aspect, but I like the guarantee of doing damage.)
    Choose the Enchantment point.
  7. Upgrade Fire Aspect to level 2.
    Choose the Enchantment point.
  8. Merchant floor. Upgrade Fire Aspect to level 3 and then have the merchant upgrade the Double Axe to gilded. If you don’t upgrade the enchantments before making it gilded, you will have to pay extra enchantment points to upgrade the axe.
  9. No upgrades.
    Select the Totem of Restoration.
  10. No upgrades. Kill the wizards and creepers first.
    Select the Buzzy Nest.
  11. No upgrades.
    Select the Vexing Chant.
  12. No upgrades.
    Choose the Enchantment point.
  13. Upgrade Void Strike on your bow to level 2.
Deploy your bees just before the bosses spawn. Then try throw all of you TNT at the boss and try to shoot them to apply the void strike multiplier. Continue using your bow to kill the Drowned Necromancer bosses.
    Choose the Enchantment point.
  14. Merchant level. Upgrade your Double Axe again.
  15. No upgrades.
    Choose the Enchantment point.
  16. No upgrades. Deploy your bees and vexes immediately to avoid being targeted by harpoons. Be patient with water riptides–only move one block at a time, possibly with the exception of the last 2-3 currents.
Choose the Love Medallion to replace the Buzzy Nest.
  17. No upgrades. Deploy your vexes for wave 1. Deploy your totem of healing between wave 2-3. And use your Love Medallion between waves 3-4.
    Choose the Scatter Crossbow.
  18. Upgrade Infinity to level 3; multishot to level 3; and radiance to level 1 on your Scatter Crossbow. Stand away from the mobs, and use your almost infinite amount of arrows to destroy mobs. Friend any mobs that get close to you.
    Choose the Entertainer’s Garb.
  19. Upgrade Final Shout on the Entertainer’s Garb to level 1.
Use the Love Medallion and arrows to kill the Nameless One.
    Choose the Enchantment point.
  20. Upgrade Protection to level 1 on your armor.
    Choose the Enchantment point.
  21. Upgrade Potion Barrier to level 1 on your armor.
    Choose the Enchantment point.
  22. Upgrade Protection to level 2 on your armor.
Use your bow to destroy the cauldron.

Final thoughts on How to Beat Minecraft Dungeons “The Tower” 2nd Anniversary Event

Tl;dr: use the double axe for the entire tower; use your bow to kill bosses. Levels 5 and 18 usually give me the most trouble, along with the second boss level. Once you get the hang of it, you can easily beat all 22 floors in about 20 minutes.
